Fleet Commander Log #2

Welcome to another fleet commander log!

In this series, we chat about the previous month in Krypted Gaming (for fleet commanders), and what we’re looking forward to on the horizon. The general structure,

We hope this will give insight to prospective fleet commanders for Krypted Gaming, as well as the rest of EVE Online. We are definitely not the best PvP corporation, but we have our fun and typically come out ISK positive.

May

This month, the average fleet size was around 10-20, with several microgangs heading out. Some of our fleet commanders have transitioned from EU timezone to US timezone, and hopefully we will be able to build out our US timezone to larger gangs. We decided to go back to mixed shield cruisers this month, as well as stock up the local staging with tons of shield frigates.

By the end of the month, we found that we’re very good at getting swift content, but overstay our welcome. Hopefully we’ll work on this, and learn to extract a bit faster.

 

This month we also tied for #1 in SLYCE fleet participation, which is an amazing achievement for our corporation. Especially because it’s never happened in SLYCE before!

We had a lot of fun this month with these gangs, as they’re very fast and play to our strength of snatching content and getting out as soon as possible. Due to our location, the only content we really have is horde. As a corporation, we need to be able to get to their ratters, and extract before they sit two Aeons on the gate.

Regions

This month, we mainly played in Fade and Black Rise.

We found that intel is extremely important for taking on Horde, as they typically will blob you with a 40-50 man gang of caracals or hurricanes. With constant lookouts in these systems, we’ve been able to dunk more rattlesnakes than ever, and easily extract before they can even blink.

Black Rise has been pretty interesting this month. The gang size that we have encountered is usually 10-15, and there have been a lot more cruisers and battlecruisers heading out. Unfortunately, we only take out frigate or destroyer gangs, so generally don’t find the good fights that we’re looking for.

Upcoming

A large problem in our fleets has generally been the length of the fleets, as well as the formup time. This month, we’ll be heavily emphasizing on this, and have currently cut formups down to 5-10 minutes, and most of our fleets are only lasting around 45-75 minutes. So far, we think that these are excellent numbers, and hope to cut down fleets to a consistent 60 minutes. Our formups are excellent, so we’ll ensure that we keep getting undocked swiftly.

We are also launching a program that will focus on rewarding our logistics and tackle pilots who put the effort in to become experts in their role. These roles are extremely important for the fleet, and we believe that strong pilots in these roles will lead to better fleets.
