Fleet Commander Log #1

Welcome!

This is a new update series that we will be publishing every month, summarizing our experiences as Krypted Gaming Fleet Commanders (FCs) in the previous month. The basic structure of this series will be the following,

  1. Summary of the previous month (AARs, cool fights, etc).
  2. Summary of the doctrines we tried out this month, how they performed, and what we’ve learned.
  3. Short chat about the regions we roamed and what we’ve learned about them.
  4. Plans for the next month, new doctrines we will be trying out, and more.

We hope that this will give an insight to what it’s like to run fleets in EVE Online, as well as what it’s like to be a fleet commander in EVE Online. We are constantly trying out new things, teaching new people, and we feel that it would be nice to share it with the universe.

That being said, let’s chat about April!

April

This month, our average fleet size was around 5-15 members, depending on the time and day. We took advantage of these smaller-sized gangs, and decided that we would be focusing a bit more on player skill, and taking out doctrines that were a little bit more interesting.

We decided on remote-repairing tactical destroyers, such as the Svipul and Confessor. Also, we brought along a couple logistics frigates.

These were very fun to fly, and extremely flexible. We took them out on a few occasions, mainly to Providence, and found excellent content. And a Tengu!

Other Roams

Alongside this new doctrine, we flew our standard cruiser fleets, as well as our longbows and thrashers. This month, we also took a navy frigate fleet out, and had some excellent success!

We also took out a Drake roam, and had a ton of fun.

Region Analysis

Providence

We had a lot of fun in Providence this month, largely due to most of our wormholes pointing down there. Our goal was always to head through Providence and eventually reach Catch (Brave Staging), but we typically never made it. There are some excellent pockets for catching ratters that aren’t exactly paying attention, but be careful, because the response fleet is coming.

Fade

We live in Deklein, so running our fleet into the Horde Wall is pretty convenient. We’ve found that you can either brawl or kite them, just make sure you’re popping the shiny tackle that are burning straight towards you. Caracals are great if you want to keep them at range, otherwise thrashers are very cost-effective.

Black Rise

We have always traveled to Black Rise whenever we have a wormhole leading there, because it’s some of the best content in the game. We typically take armor frigates out, because they get more fights, and brawling is fun. There is nearly always some idiot running around in a battleship, so if you have 3-4 logistics frigates, you can easily get some high value kills.

Never take an expensive pod, you’ll lose it!

PS : Tama is always camped.

Next Month

In May, we hope to be doing a little more black ops fleets, as they are very profitable and relaxing. Our numbers aren’t quite there yet, we can usually squeeze out 10 bombers on a good day. We’ll be looking at expanding into these fleets as we grow, and get more active players who can fly bombers.

We also hope to expand our microgang fleets, and heavily focus on training our pilots in the upcoming months. Krypted will always be a small community, thus we must teach our pilots how to fight outnumbered.

We plan to be targeting wormhole space heavily in May, and having fun with armor cruisers!
